Turkey holidays: what to know before you go

When to go

The beach season runs from late May to mid-October. June and September are the sweet spot: warm water, bearable heat, lower prices than July–August. July and August are peak: school holidays, full hotels, top prices. Late September and October suit adults best — the sea is still warm, crowds thin out, prices fall. April and May are great for sightseeing: mild and green.

Which resort to choose

Antalya has the most flights and the widest choice — easy for families. Kemer sits by the mountains: cooler, pebble beaches. Belek means lawns, golf and the newest five-stars — pricier. Side and Alanya offer good value and long sandy beaches, with Alanya cheaper day to day. Bodrum and Kuşadası are Aegean: nightlife and small towns. With children ask for a sandy entry and a gentle slope — more common in Side and Belek.

What “all inclusive” really means

Most Turkish hotels run “all inclusive”: three meals, snacks through the day, local drinks. But there are tiers: “ultra all inclusive” adds imported drinks, à la carte restaurants and sometimes sports. Imported spirits, the fish restaurant, spa and water sports are usually charged SEPARATELY. Before signing, ask your operator what is included in that specific hotel — they must list it.

Visa and documents

Uzbek citizens need no advance visa for a tourist trip to Turkey — a valid passport is what matters. It must comfortably outlast your trip, so don’t travel on an expiring one. The permitted length of stay and the rules change from time to time — your operator will confirm what applies on your dates. Children need their own passport or a birth certificate, and notarised consent if flying without their parents.

Flights from Tashkent and money

Tashkent–Antalya takes about 5 hours, with extra direct charters in season. The time difference is minus two hours. Change money into lira locally — airport rates are worse. Cards work almost everywhere, but markets and small shops want cash. 20–40 dollars a day per person usually covers excursions and souvenirs.
