When to go

Malaysia is warm year-round, around 30°C, with rain arriving as short heavy downpours. Langkawi is best from December to March (dry season); September–October is wettest. For Kuala Lumpur the season matters less — it is a city trip, and rain sends you to malls and museums. Humidity is high all year: pack light clothes and carry water.

Kuala Lumpur or Langkawi

Kuala Lumpur means the Petronas Towers, malls, cheap delicious food and the Batu Caves — a city and shopping trip. Langkawi is the island: beaches, a cable car, waterfalls and duty-free status (so some goods are notably cheaper). The popular route combines both: 2–3 days in the capital, then the island. They are an hour apart by air.

Visa and documents

Uzbek citizens travel to Malaysia visa-free for tourism. An online arrival card may be required before entry — your operator will tell you and help fill it in. Keep comfortable passport validity and your return ticket ready. Procedures can change — your operator checks for your dates.

Food and money

Malaysia is one of the few destinations where halal food is easy: most of the population is Muslim and “halal” signage is everywhere. That is a real convenience for family trips. Food is cheap — lunch at a local place is 3–5 dollars. The currency is the ringgit; cards work everywhere in the city. 25–45 dollars a day per person is enough.

Getting there

Tashkent–Kuala Lumpur is usually one stop, 10–13 hours in total. Time difference: plus three hours. Given the distance, a 9–12 day trip makes sense — enough for both the city and the island.
