China holidays: what to know before you go
No visa needed — the big news
Since 2025 Uzbek citizens enter China for short trips (tourism, business meetings) WITHOUT A VISA. That changed the destination completely: consular paperwork used to be required, now you fly with your passport. Up to 30 days per trip and 90 days in total per half-year. Study, work and long stays still need a visa. The rules are new — your operator confirms them for your departure date.
Sanya (Hainan) — for the sea
Beach holidays in China mean Hainan Island and the city of Sanya. Best from November to April: 26–28°C and dry. Summer is hot, humid and typhoon-prone. Sanya has new hotels, calm bays and cheap seafood. Russian signs and menus are common, so language is less of a barrier.
City trips
Beijing — the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven. Shanghai — skyscrapers and the Bund. Guangzhou and Yiwu are for buying: that is where most Uzbek entrepreneurs go. Between cities the high-speed train is excellent: 300 km/h, cheap tickets, no airport queues.
Money and internet
Important: Important: China runs on phone payments (Alipay, WeChat Pay). You can link a foreign card to these apps — do it BEFORE you fly. Cash is not accepted everywhere. Also, many foreign apps and sites do not open in China — sort out communication in advance and warn your family.
Getting there
There are direct flights from Tashkent to Beijing and Shanghai, 6–7 hours. Sanya is usually one stop. Time difference: plus three hours. The shortest hop is Urumqi at about 2 hours — a common starting point for buying trips.
