China visa-free: what changed for Uzbek citizens
Consular paperwork used to be required. Now a passport is enough for a tourist trip — with a few caveats.
What changed
Since 2025, Uzbek citizens enter China for short trips — tourism or business meetings — without a visa. No consulate, no document packs, no queues.
That changed the destination completely: China used to count as a “difficult” country, and many chose elsewhere because of it. The barrier is gone.
Study, work and long stays still require a visa — this rule covers short trips only.
How long you can stay
The stay is capped both per trip and in total per half-year. The count is by days present, not by number of entries — two visits add up.
We do not print an exact figure here: the rule is new and can change. When your dates are set, ask your operator to check what applies then.
Two things to do before you fly
First, payments. China runs on phone apps — Alipay or WeChat Pay. You can link a foreign card, but do it AT HOME before you fly. Cash is not accepted everywhere, especially in big cities.
Second, connectivity. Many foreign apps and sites do not open in China. Sort out how you will stay in touch and warn your family — otherwise they will worry when you “go silent”.
Where to go
For the sea — Hainan Island and the city of Sanya. Best from November to April: 26–28°C and dry. New hotels, calm bays, cheap seafood.
For cities — Beijing (the Great Wall, the Forbidden City) and Shanghai (skyscrapers, the Bund). The high-speed train between them is excellent: 300 km/h, cheap tickets, no airport queues.
For buying — Guangzhou and Yiwu, where most Uzbek entrepreneurs go. Visa-free entry has made those trips much simpler.
