Egypt tour: what the price covers and what you pay separately

A tour price has four parts: the flight, the hotel, transfers (airport to hotel and back) and insurance. A “tour” is not a ticket — it is those four bundled together.

The flight and the hotel are the largest share, and they are what moves with the season. So “why was it cheaper last month” almost always comes down to those two lines.

The meal plan shifts the price noticeably. The gap between all-inclusive (AI) and ultra all-inclusive is drinks, à la carte dinners and some services. For a family staying a week or more, AI usually beats paying per meal.

Excursions. The pyramids, Luxor, boat trips — none of that is in the tour price. Hotel desks and street sellers quote different prices; for safety, book through the official desk.

Some hotels charge separately for beach equipment, the safe and internet. Small sums, but they add up over a week — check those lines when picking a hotel.

Border and resort fees change from time to time. Printing an exact figure here would mislead: your operator confirms it for your departure date.

Sharm el-Sheikh has the reef right by the shore and clear water — the best snorkelling. But many beaches enter the sea by pontoon over rocky ground, which is awkward with toddlers.

Hurghada has more sand and a gentle entry, easier with children. The reef is further out and reached by boat.

Wind differs too: Hurghada is windier (which is why surfers go there), Sharm is usually calmer.

Egypt flies year-round, so “season” here means demand, not weather. School holidays and public holidays are the priciest dates.

Summer is very hot, so prices drop. Spring and autumn bring the best weather at a middling price.

A simple trick: shift your dates by a week. The same hotel costs differently on different days — your operator can show it in the price calendar.
